Remnants of the Chicago-area black/death metal act Infecting the Soul (Kevin Meredith, Albert Weihofen, and Thomas Osborn) laid the foundation for Liche. With a stronger influence of Scandinavian black metal in their music, Liche set out to bring a familiar, modern, European black metal sound to the United States. WIth blazing classic metal solos over a much more aggressive melodic foundation, Liche brings forth the black metal intensity Chicago and the south suburbs have been yearning for.
The search for a second guitarist ended with the addition of John Roberts in October 2005. Liche began immediately writing new material in preperation of their first demo release. The demo included the songs "Beyond the Black Horizon" and "Infernal Sands of Time." In July 2006, Liche found a vocalist, Johnny Grill, to front the band.
Liche has played a few gigs in the Steger, IL area at a local bar, Shooters. On January 15, 2007, Liche landed the opening slot for the Dark Funeral / Enslaved tour in Mokena, IL at the Pearl Room.
In early May 2007, John Roberts parted ways with Liche. With the upcoming release of the album "Within the Valley of Meggido," Kevin laid the backing guitarist position for the debut cd as well as the lead guitar.
